Hey Sam, I’d like to share my 1960s Ludwigs re-wrapped in Vintage White Pearl in a 12, 16, 20 configuration.
The 12 had a date stamp of December 27, 1966, and I’m assuming it came with the 20. The 16 has its vent hole moved up higher, indicative of late 60s Ludwigs.
I got all three shells together about 2 years ago, and they were wrapped in some sort of fake leather, which you can see in the last picture. They were only shells, so it’s been a long process of gathering all the other fixingsneeded to complete the kit.
In addition to the pleather wrap, the previous owner had put Swiv-o-Matic hardware all over each drum, so those holes had to be filled. All the interiors were repainted, and the hoops are Slingerland with original WMP inlay, which goes very well with the new wrap.
I was completely blown away by how fantastic your product looked. I fully recommend your Vintage White Pearl for anyone’s restoration project. If you’re on the fence about which wrap to pick, like I was, I’ll make the decision for you. Choose Vintage White Pearl. It’s the definition of classy, and you’ll be blown away by the vivid patterns in the wrap.
I went with Remo Vintage Coated Emperor batters on the toms and Coated Ambassadors for the resos. For the bass, I went with the new Felt Tone resonant and a Powerstroke Pro batter. The 1930s logo on the bass head was the cherry on top, in my opinion.
Enjoy!?
